U13LL Take Home GOLD!!

The Ayr Rockets U13LL team traveled to Leamington this past weekend for the Keith Lindsay Memorial Tournament. 

 

They came out on fire Friday, winning their first game against the London Devilettes 3-2 and their second game against South County Predators 2-1. On Saturday, they lost their first game 3-1 to the South Point Stars; however, they earned themselves a spot to the Semi-Finals on Sunday morning.  After another victory Sunday morning, winning 2-0 against the Mooretown Lady Flags, they were off to the Championships to face the South Point Stars, again! 

 

The game started out hot with a goal by Sarah McIlravey early in the first period. The Rockets stood their ground the rest of the first and the second period. With 3 minutes left in the third, the South Point Stars were on the board and the game was tied 1-1.  This nail biter wasn’t finished, they ended up going to a 3 on 3 overtime. Both teams showed hard work and dedication during this intense 5-minute battle, which eventually sent this game into a shootout!  

 

After a few battles back and forth, The Ayr Rockets won GOLD with a game winning shot, scored by Melanie Wilson!  The entire bench staff and family are SO very proud of all of the hard work, passion and dedication showed by the girls this past weekend.
